New trailer: “Midsommar: Director’s Cut” (2019)
24 has released a trailer for “Hereditary” director Ari Aster’s new ‘director’s cut’ version of his sunlight-drenched folk horror thriller “Midsommar” which hits cinemas this weekend, nearly two months after the original theatrical cut arrived.
The new promo makes fun of how the theatrical cut, at two-and-half-hours, is already long and this new three-hour unrated version pushes one’s commitment levels even further with the tagline ‘Sommar Never Ends’. Reviews of the new cut have so far been quite positive – saying it fleshes out the Dani and Christian central conceit more and the ending feels more earned.
Jack Reynor and Florence Pugh star in the film as a couple who travels to Sweden to visit a famed mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic vacation soon turns into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult. Will Poulter, William Jackson Harper, Ellora Torchia and Archie Madekwe also star.
