Trailer: “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” (2019)
Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” the biopic starring Tom Hanks as Mister Rogers.
Marielle Heller (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?”) directs the film that’s loosely based on a 1998 Esquire article and follows a jaded magazine writer (Matthew Rhys) who is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers (Hanks) but is doubtful of Rogers’ optimism.
Over time, the two form a friendship and he overcomes his scepticism, learning about empathy, kindness and decency from America’s most beloved neighbor. Chris Cooper also stars in the film which was penned by Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster.
The film was shot in the original studio in Philadelphia where “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” was filmed. The film opens in cinemas November 22nd.
